In addition to the beautiful beaches and park areas, there are many restaurants, and an outstanding selection of small shops in and around the Newbury/Newburyport area. Gloucester is also a short drive away. Boston can be reached by train and is an hour's drive south. The Maine shore is an hour's drive north.

Acapulcos Mexican Family Restaurant - run of the mill Mexican food. Good kids menu. Right in Amesbury, a few miles away.
Agave Mexican Bistro - very authentic Mexican cuisine....to unusual for most kid's palates...but delicious for the grownups.
Black Cow Tap & Grille - water front, great food, limited kid's menu.
Glenn's Restaurant and Cool Bar - wood grill, seafood, casual, ethnic, no kid's menu.
The Grog - casual food, limited kid's menu.
Joseph's Winterstreet Cafe - for a special night out...not for kids.
Mad Martha's - a taste of local color
Michael's Harborside - water front, great food, good kid's menu.
Mission Oak Grille - for an upscale night out without the kids.
Not Your Average Joe's - casual chain, limited kids menu....something for everyone
Plum Crazy - great breakfasts, pizzas and lunchs right on Plum Island. Delivers locally.
Plum Island Grille - right on the edge of Plum Island. Great food, very limited kid's menu.
The Starboard Galley - wouldn't recommend it
Stripers Grille - right over the bridge. Basic, casual fare, good salad bar, right on the water.
Ten Center Street - recent renovated - an upscale evening out.
